Second Hand Moves with Juana (Discwoman) x Sleepy G x Fatik

Second Hand Records NYC presents

⭐ Juana (Discwoman) :
Juana (the artist formerly known as Brdhs) is so house. Birthed from a tribe of light-skinned opera singers and children of the soul mother from the universal vibrations of the earth spirit, Juana grew up on a steady diet of smooth jazz, jheri curl funk, and prog rock, which shaped her sensibilities immeasurably. Her musical inspirations include Hendrix, Can, Frank Zappa, Roy Ayers, Deftones, Patrick Adams, Prince, Tool, Norman Connors, RZA, Pepe Bradock, Cocteau Twins, Roxy Music, Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Mtume, a bunch of classical niggas, and obviously, everything 80s and 90s house that flooded her ears as a little Chicago baby club dumpling. She began collecting records at age 4 and stealing tapes and CDs from Tower Records at around 14.
2016 and 2017 opened up many new avenues for Juana, joining forces with numerous local heavy hitters in DC, playing the Acid People party series with the likes of Ron Jackson, Damon Bradley, and Tsurugi. Juana also recently linked up with TechnoFist, Void Archive, and Select DC as part of the quickly growing Sequence party series, on opening duties for Detroit's BMG, and getting muy loca closing for Discwoman (Volvox and Umfang) and Tommy Four Seven. She's also had the good fortune to open up for the likes of Rick Wade and Kai Alce, Stefan Goldmann, and Pan-Pot, plus play a couple times at Brooklyn's famed Chevy Nova Pizza Club. In May 2017, she enjoyed several WTF moments, officially joining the Discwoman collective.

*Discwoman is a New York-based platform, collective, and booking agency—that showcases and represents talent in electronic music. Started as a two-day festival in September 2014 at Bossa Nova Civic Club, Discwoman has since produced and curated events in 15+ cities—working with over 200 DJs and producers to-date.

Sleepy G
Club Cuttlefish is a dance party in DC that started at a tucked-away spot called Ten Tigers. Each party showcases a live performance, as well as a guest DJ set. Creating an environment where people feel welcome, valued, and safe to open themselves up--both dancers and performers. Drawing quite heavily on the very talented local scene, quite a few people meet for the first time at their night. Helping push a thriving community in DC.

Opened Second Hand Records over a year ago to help cultivate a growing call for brick & mortar shops. Steering away from the comfort of a web based experience of shopping / community building / social exchanges, our aim is expression thru music, dance and presence.
